Let’s have a talk, okay?
YES ALL I DRAW IS SHERLOCK AND I MAKE KABOOOTLES OF MONEY AND I ROLL IN IT EACH NIGHT N LIVE IN AN AMAZING HOUSE N LAUGH AT EVERYONE…
.____. u for serious?
I hope you sent this to everyone else in the book that you (seem to have ) bought n are upset that is contributing to this kabootles of supposed money we make off of fanart? It’s a nice thought, but clearly far from the truth as like most artists I’m sure- are proud to say we make most of our money from our original pieces. That aside- I wasn’t the organizer of the project you’re speaking of and just selling off the copies we (Shy n I) got for our contributions to it. The fanart book you speak of was multiple people so sorry you were disappointed? But it is what is and cant really point fingers as I only had once piece out of the lot of them and wasn’t the project organizer. I’d be much more interested in your opinion of our studio’s actual compilation books that I and my wife take pride in- like our new Ghost Book! A project that we actually directed and gathered artists for rather than a project I was just pulled into to create a piece and didn’t have such a heavy hand in. Thanks for the feedback though!
On the basis of your offense taken that people draw fanart- again i’d like to direct you to everyone else that draws something that they’re passionate about. You don’t have to look at it. You don’t have to buy it.
I drew Sherlock (and all other fanart that I happen to do between my personal projects) - BECAUSE I LIKE IT. Just happens that other people like it too. So if they want to buy it, good. If they don’t- thats fine! I draw fanart because I love the show and being able to sell it is just a secondary benefit. It would be drawn either way :\ I don’t sell out and draw things I’m not into (example: Supernatural, Homestucks, the Elementary adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, Disney anything- something that many are into but doesn’t suit my fancy…etcetcetc.)
Intellectual property is a different subject entirely in comparison (so wont go into it as much) to the offense you seem to take on the money we make here n there. I won’t touch on that as much but you do realize that the show itself is pretty much a high-production fan-creation so its a bit of an ironic argument. Sherlock stories have been around for ages and have been adapted into MANY things besides other spin offs, cartoons, shows and movies. Being a fan of one particular adaptation and making things based on it isn’t that much of a jump. Also BBC’s modern version makes reference/play homage to other adaptations of the originals.
But I guess in the end we’re both disheartened, you at the book you’ve seen and my faith in one of our small community.
If you really feel that strongly I’d love to talk more about it outside of snippy tumblr notes. Feel free to email me anytime to talk more :>

Thank you- even though that comment is strangely sexist and I dont quite understand how my gender has any reflection on my art’s value/quality.
